Breast Lift | Houston
A breast lift is clinically known as a mastopexy. A lift can address sagging/deflated breasts by lifting the breasts and enhancing their appearance.
To achieve this, Dr. Baylan designs the excess skin to contour and support the breast. The end result is breasts that sit higher on the chest and provide a more youthful appearance.
Some patients choose to combine a breast lift with either a breast reduction or breast augmentation (breast implants).
Can I get a Breast Lift?
A lift can benefit breasts that have begun to sag or deflate due to age, after breastfeeding, pregnancy or weight loss. If you experience any of the following a breast lift might be right for you:
- Drooping or Sagging Breasts
- Elongated Breasts
- Loss of Volume
- Loss of Shape
- Downward Pointing Nipples
A lift is a great option to restore a more youthful appearance.
Women who plan on having more children should not have a breast lift. Natural pregnancy weight gain and breastfeeding after a lift will negate the results and compromise the aesthetic result. If you are planning to have children or additional children, you should wait to get a lift until after the last child has finished breastfeeding.

What Happens During Breast Lift Surgery?
Prior to your surgery, Dr. Baylan will discuss the incision possibilities with you. The degree of sagging/deflation, breast size, shape and other variables will factor into the type of breast lift surgery will take place. Dr. Baylan will tailor your treatment plan to your needs and desires while maximizing safety.
Doughnut Incision (Periareolar)
For women with smaller cup sizes and minimal sagging (breast ptosis), often a doughnut incision can be used. This approach creates a ring around the areola in a doughnut shape to provide the lift. This method creates less scarring.
Lollipop Incision (Vertical)
A second approach is to make an incision around the areola and then downward, ending at the crease underneath the breast. This forms a lollipop shape and allows more access to reform the breast.
Anchor Incision (Weiss Pattern)
For women with the most significant sagging, an anchor-shaped incision provides the best access to reform the breast.
Once the incisions are made, the breast tissue is then manipulated to achieve the patient’s contour goals. Dr. Baylan may reposition or resize the nipple and areola higher on the breast to restore a more youthful aesthetic appearance.
Breast Lift Recovery
It is common to experience some soreness, swelling, and bruising for a few days after surgery. Your new breasts will be wrapped in bandages for about a week, and then you will need to wear a support bra for 4-6 weeks.
Patients can usually return to work in about 1-2 weeks, but must avoid strenuous activity for approximately 4-6 weeks.
As with any surgery, we will prep you for the recovery period at your pre op appointments. Our staff is always here for you during your recover.
