Breast Reduction | Houston
Breast reduction surgery is an excellent choice for women who are unhappy with their overly large breasts. Reduction surgery removes fat, glandular breast tissue, and skin to contour the breast to a size you desire.
Overly large breasts can be a burden for some women. Problems may include back pain, neck pain, poor posture, chafing, skin breakdown, and difficulty with running or athletics.
Some patients report they avoid social situations because of the unwanted attention they receive. If this is you, it's time to take back your life.
Breast Reduction Surgery Options
There are different ways to perform breast reduction surgery based on the type of incisions used. During your consultation, Dr. Baylan will discuss the various options. Together you will form a plan to reduce and contour your breasts to your desired shape and size.
Traditional Breast Reduction Surgery
Traditional breast reduction surgery involves creating an anchor shaped incision (Weiss Pattern). This is ideal for patients who have extremely large breasts. This method allows the most fat, tissue, and skin removal, but it can also cause the most scarring. It is common to move the nipples and areola as well.
Vertical Incision Breast Reduction
A second option is the short-scar technique, known as a vertical incision breast reduction. This method uses incisions around the areola and down to the crease of the breast in the shape of a lollipop. This approach is a good option for women with moderately large breasts. It can also result in a little less scarring.
Scarless Breast Reduction
For patients with mostly fatty tissue in their breasts, the scarless breast reduction technique may work. We use liposuction to reduce the size of the breasts, using only tiny incisions to gain access.

Breast Reduction Recovery
Due to the incisions and the trauma to the breast tissue, recovery from reduction surgery is significant. There will be swelling, soreness, and bruising in the area for several days. Patients must wear a surgical support bra for the next few weeks.
Patients can usually return to work in about 2-3 weeks. They must avoid strenuous activity for approximately 4-6 weeks.
We work with every patient to make sure they completely understand the recovery requirements. We are always here for you as you recover.
Results from Breast Reduction Surgery
Breast reduction results are visible immediately. They continue to improve with time as swelling subsides and the scarring begins to fade. We also implement a post-operative scar regimen to maximize scar healing.
The risks involved are the same as with any surgery, but the procedure is generally safe and uncomplicated. Dr. Baylan and his team will work with you through every step of your plastic surgery journey.
